La britannica Centrica Plc ha raggiunto un accordo per la cessione delle centrali a ciclo combinato (CCGT) di Language e South Humber Bank, dalla capacità complessiva di 2,3 GW, a EP UK Investment Ltd (EP UK) per un importo di 318 milioni di sterline in contanti, rettificate sulla base del capitale circolante e di altri aggiustamenti contabili.
EP UK è totalmente controllata da EP Power Europe, a.s. (EPPE) e EPPE è una sussidiaria interamente controllata dal Gruppo EPH (Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s.).
L'Amministratore Delegato di EPH Daniel Křetínský ha dichiarato: "Siamo orgogliosi di avere l'opportunità di continuare la tradizione di Centrica nel mercato della generazione convenzionale nel Regno Unito. Si tratta di un'acquisizione significativa nella nostra strategia di crescita nel mercato britannico. I due CCGT completeranno il nostro portafoglio che già include le centrali a carbone di Eggborough e Lynemouth e il nostro progetto di sviluppo di un impianto CCGT a Eggborough".
L'operazione è soggetta al via libera dell'Antitrust europea e dovrebbe chiudersi durante la seconda metà del 2017.
EPH genera annualmente oltre 100 TWh di energia elettrica, posizionandosi come il 7° maggiore produttore in Europa. Nel Regno Unito, EPH possiede già 2 GW con le centrali a carbone di Eggborough e di Lynemouth.
Eggborough Power Limited sta lavorando allo sviluppo di una nuova centrale elettrica a gas. Questo impianto avrà una potenza pari a 2.500 MW.
L'impianto di Lynemouth verrà convertito in una centrale elettrica alimentata a biomassa per ridurre le emissioni di ossidi di azoto e di zolfo, polveri sottili e CO2. 7.
La centrale a biomassa dovrebbe produrre circa 2,3 TWh di elettricità a basse emissioni di CO2 e fornire fino a 390 MW di elettricità.
EPH to buy Langage and South Humber Bank gas-fired power stations from Centrica
Centrica plc has agreed to sell its operational Langage and South Humber Bank combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power stations, with a combined capacity of 2.3GW, to EP UK Investments Ltd (EP UK) for £318million in cash, subject to customary working capital and other completion adjustments.
EP UK is fully controlled by EP Power Europe, a.s. (EPPE) and EPPE is a wholly owned subsidiary of Energetický a průmyslový holding, a.s. (EPH).
CEO of EPH Daniel Křetínský said "We are proud to have the opportunity to continue Centrica´s tradition in the conventional power generation market in the UK. This is a significant acquisition in our strategy of increasing our generation capacity in the UK market. The two CCGTs will complement our existing UK portfolio of Eggborough and Lynemouth power stations and our Eggborough CCGT development project."
The transaction is subject to EU merger clearance and is expected to close during the second half of 2017.
EPH generates over 100 TWh of power annually, which places it as the 7th largest power producer in Europe.
In the UK, EPH already owns the 2 GW Eggborough and the Lynemouth coal-fired power stations. Eggborough Power Limited is proposing to develop a new gas-fired power station. This station would have an output of up to 2,500 MW. The Lynemouth plant is being converted into a biomass-fuelled power plant in order to reduce the NOx, SO2, dust and CO2 emissions. The biomass power station is expected to produce approximately 2.3 TWh of low-carbon electricity and to supply up to 390MW of electricity.
